Conservation and Pollution

Definitions 

Pollution- When gases, smoke and chemicals are introduced into the environment in large doses that makes it harmful for humans, animals and plants.

EnvironmentAll our surroundings including the air, soil, water, plants, and animals make up the environment. 

Natural Resources- Something that is found in nature and can be used by people. Earth's natural resources include light, air, water, plants, animals, soil, stone, minerals, and fossil fuels.

Land Pollultion- When human-made waste contaminates the land and gets into the soil. 

Landfill- Areas where garbage is placed in the land. 

BiodegradableTrash that is made of organic substances will eventually decay and become a part of the environment.

Deforestation- The clearing or cutting down of forests. 

Water Pollution- The pollution of bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers, and oceans. 

Air Pollution- Occurs when gases, dust, smoke, or odor get into the air and make it unclean.

Atmosphere- The layer of gas that surrounds the Earth and protects it. Mostly made of nitrogen and oxygen.
