Definitions
Pollution- When gases, smoke and chemicals are introduced into the environment in large doses that makes it harmful for humans, animals and plants.
Environment- All our surroundings including the air, soil, water, plants, and animals make up the environment.
Natural Resources- Something that is found in nature and can be used by people. Earth's natural resources include light, air, water, plants, animals, soil, stone, minerals, and fossil fuels.
Land Pollultion- When human-made waste contaminates the land and gets into the soil.
Landfill- Areas where garbage is placed in the land.
Biodegradable- Trash that is made of organic substances will eventually decay and become a part of the environment.
Deforestation- The clearing or cutting down of forests.
Water Pollution- The pollution of bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers, and oceans.
Air Pollution- Occurs when gases, dust, smoke, or odor get into the air and make it unclean.
Atmosphere- The layer of gas that surrounds the Earth and protects it. Mostly made of nitrogen and oxygen.
